*Back to foul mood* Sick isn't it? I've given her my availability. How easy is it to forget 8-2 everyday? I don't even ask for a regular off day. I have to fetch and send kids to and from school each day and what does she do? She schedules me from 1030am to 6pm tomorrow! WTH!??!??!?! This is the third time she's done this to me and I've already told her, "Stop it!!!" The last time this happened, I spent an hour picking up the daughter and sending her home. No time even to eat on the run. That's it. I'm quitting at the end of the season.

Gosh... sounds like a really bad dilemma. Worse, sounds like she just doesn't care. Maybe, because you've bent over backwards to accommodate the schedule before, she thinks that you can do it again. Rolling Eyes Razz Sounds like she's just pushing her luck.

Can't you go to, say, HR to resolve this issue?

I'll talk to her first, then HR if it doesn't get resolved. Wait till I tell you what she has me doing tomorrow. I'm supposed to work from 9-1. She wrote the schedule before she knew that the store will open at 7am tomorrow. I'm super duper angry over this but I know that she didn't do this on purpose so I'm just biting the bullet. So I'm going in at 6am, clocking out at 715am on to run home so that I can drive the kids to school. Then I have to be back at work at 815am to continue where I left off. WTH?!?!?!?!!?

She's been giving me more than my requested for 20 hours a week because of all the part timers, I'm the most responsible. While I appreciate that, I really don't like working for 38 hours. Or being on my feet for 12 hours. That's it, come the end of the season, I quit!!!!!!

jetta, I tell you something... It's getting more and more expensive to maintain my lifestyle here. I've only been here for 1.5 years and I've noticed increases in the prices of goods and services already! Mad

On top of that, here's what I discovered - Post-Graduate Diploma in Nursing with a specialisation course here - A$10K++. The same dip in Nursing in Singapore - under S$1,100!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked

It used to be that you HAVE to be sponsored by your hospital to be enrolled in the course in Singapore but not sure if they have relaxed the rules now to allow self-paying candidates to enroll. They've also modified it to be an 8-month course now.

Which makes me *(@)*(#&@% wanna kick my own ass!!! Evil or Very Mad

Oh well, one can only move forward! One glaring fact - I can never work as a Nurse in Singapore again, not with that kind of working condition so oh well, no point whingeing. Embarassed

Firstly, I ccannot believe that it's already been 1.5 years. Where did the time go? Secondly, I had always though that Australia was a cheap place to live but only after some online friends who live there told me otherwise, I am enlightened. There's a huge difference between A$10K and S$1,100. Good grief!!! Could it be that you're getting a better quality education in Oz vs Sg? I would hope so. So what are your plans now?

I can tell that you love being there so... bo pian? Take life as it comes? I can definitely relate to the increasing cost of living. I'm not doing so hot in that department too. Even though I say I'll quit, I want to quit with a job already in hand.

jetta, yesterday, one of my Filipino colleagues who has worked in Saudi Arabia and the US before told me that the credit limit on his Amex Gold Card is US$20,000!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked

I told him that I jolly well hope that you haven't been clocking up 'mileage' on it! Laughing Thankfully, he says he sets his own personal limit of US$1K on that card. Smart move! Very Happy

I envy the people from China and Malaysia and the Philippines - their currency is so low compared to the A$ that it's really to their advantage to work here. All my Filipino colleagues are working hard to pay off land and property back in the Philippines! Surprised

The S$ is so strong that it doesn't make a scant bit of difference for me. Neutral
